Academic programs
Faculty and staff of the following academic programs were involved in this project. Please read on for more information about these Northeastern University College of Professional Studies programs.
Doctorate in Law and Policy
Developed jointly by the College of Professional Studies and Northeastern’s Law and Public Policy program, the Doctorate in Law and Policy (LPD) program provides students with a strong background in Law & Legal Reasoning, Policy Analysis, Economics, and Statistics that quickly translates into real world impact and results. The Law and Policy doctoral program is structured in an accelerated format so that coursework and the doctoral thesis may be completed in 24 months. Classes meet for weekend intensives once a month in Boston, and the learning continues online between intensives. The LPD program’s unique hybrid format encourages collaboration within and between cohorts. Every year, a committee chooses a select group of doctoral students to begin the program. All students follow the same schedule through eight consecutive terms.
Doctor of Education
The Doctor of Education (EdD) program builds on Northeastern University’s commitment to practitioner-oriented graduate programs. The goal of the EdD is to instill in educators and administrators the desire and ability to effect transformational change in their practice. To achieve this goal, EdD students learn within the social constructs of their courses and through communities of practice based on shared professional experiences and common interests. They engage in a collaborative, scholarly investigation of a significant problem facing educators and formulate their own solution to that problem. This engagement helps them enfold the roles of learner, researcher, and practitioner, and it fosters their self-identities as scholar practitioners.
